ImproGuise has some really good news to share and boy, does everybody need some. Announcing the ImproGuise Mini Improv Festival at the beginning of March 2022!
It’s been an exhausting few years of the Rona, filled with bans, lockdowns, cancelled shows and disappointments. But it’s a new year and the ImproGuise troupe are optimistic, inspired and super-amped to get back on the boards, doing what they love most; making stuff up in their 10th Annual ImproGuise Mini Improv Festival on 3 – 5 March 2022 at the Galloway Theatre.
ImproGuise, Cape Town’s oldest and most favourite improv troupe, have been entertaining audiences with their live, totally improvised shows since 1994, and each year they love an opportunity to show off what they can do. The cast is reuniting (some have even moved away) and they have invited some special guests to join them as they celebrate a decade of Improv fest with a series of unique and hilarious live performances.
A different format each night
Each night will be totally different, and ImproGuise have chosen three of their audience’s most popular formats to honour improv and their most loved fans. Here is what you can expect.
3 March – Game on! Based on the hugely popular short form improv, this is a super charged and fun improv show with an emcee, judges from the audience and two teams, who will compete in a series of short and outrageous improv games based on suggestions from the audience. Yes, this is the one you always ask for.
4 March – Stuck in the middle. This wild rollercoaster ride of a show sees one highly skilled improviser stuck on stage for an hour while the other players free flow between games and scenes – running circles around the chosen improviser, and really putting their improv skills to the test.
5 March – Fake Place. This delightful longform improv format sees the highly skilled improvisers exploring a fictional place and playing all the loveable and eccentric characters in it. Heart-warming and gut-wrenchingly funny.
