The first Jazz at Rhodes Sundowner concert series happens at Rhodes Memorial in Cape Town on Sunday 9 December 2018, at 4pm, featuring Claire Phillips and SignatureSA with Craig Jordaan.
Singer guitarist Claire Phillips
Claire Phillips is back with a bang. After a self-imposed exile from recording, the Cape Town R&B/soul singer recently released her first single since 2012, I wanna love You.
She is hard at work in studio with long-time producer Patrick Caramel Hickie on the rest of the album, which should be released in March 2019.
This will be the third album from the talented Claire Phillips, who was born and bred in Belhar on the Cape Flats. She released Say my Name to critical acclaim in 2007, followed by By Request in 2012. Say my Name won a South African Music Award and By Request was nominated for a SAMA.
SignatureSA features Joshua America (guitarist), Waylan van den Heever (bass), Lawren Jonas (drummer), Royston Samuels (keys/musical director) and Lincoln Jonas (sax). SignatureSA are busy completing their first album in Cape Town. Shaggy (Seredeal Scheepers) is producing.
Rhodes Memorial lies within the Table Mountain National Park, so concert-goers can enjoy the stunning city Cape Town city views. The Rhodes Memorial Restaurant will open at 3pm.
