Cape Town’s popular winter comedy feast, The Jive Cape Town Funny Festival, returns to The Baxter Theatre for its 13th edition from 10 July to 6 August, 2017.
Once again this screamer boasts a stellar line-up, which includes three internationally acclaimed comedy variety performers, plus a top-class bevy of local stand-up comedians.
Founded and curated by Eddy Cassar in 1997, The Cape Town Funny Festival has become an annual showcase addressing heritage issues. The event consists of 30 gala type shows, showcasing the Mother City’s top comedic talent, alongside some the world’s foremost variety acts.
Contortionist, Queen of the Circus
The local cast includes Marc Lottering, Alan Committie, Dalin Oliver, Mel Jones, Loyiso Madinga, Ndumiso Lindi and Daniel Mpilo Richards. The international variety performers include Mario: Queen of the Circus from the US, veteran comedic contortionist Captain Frodo from Norway and award-winning Edinburgh Fringe Festival comedy magician Paul Dabek from London.
The event also serves as a fundraiser for clubs, schools and organisations. And is dubbed a “fun night out for the entire family”.
