Oudtshoorn is preparing for more festivities over nine days in 2023 when the 27th KKNK is presented from Saturday 1 to Sunday 9 April. These dates coincide with the school holidays and the festival ends over Easter weekend.
The Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees festival programme will be launched on Friday 20 January 2023, with tickets going on sale nationwide online through Webtickets. Accommodation can already be booked via the KKNK website.

Open-air evening concerts
“A jampacked festival programme awaits festivalgoers, which includes all the popular KKNK elements, and as always it also includes innovation and surprises. The ever-popular open-air evening concerts return, as well as site-specific theatre. The multidisciplinary programme will entertain festivalgoers in all genres and is aimed at young and old. Baron van Reede Street, the heartbeat of the festival, will be closed off once again in 2023.”
“This festival street provides free entertainment to festivalgoers with impromptu performances, music and delicious food and drinks, from early morning to late at night. And off course the popular discussions series, visual arts and other lifestyle elements are also part of the offering. A further additional element is the two-day open air music festival, kicking off the festivities on 1 and 2 April. Another first at the KKNK is a Youth Arts Festival presented from 1 to 4 April, in collaboration with the Western Cape Department of Education, aimed at high school learners and – teachers. This festival within the festival hopes to cultivate an interest in the arts amongst high school learners through theatre, music, dance, visual arts topical conversations and more.
Certain productions and events are presented by the youth themselves, to create a voice and platform for them. Packages with accommodation and tickets at affordable prices are made available, which will also include masterclasses and workshops.
