Orms Cape Town School of Photography has launched an exhibition titled the Laugh it Off Retrospective. The exhibition provides a platform for a curated selection of artists showcasing work in the Laugh it Off tradition of engaging contemporary social and political issues through visual mediums.

Since its inception in 1990, Laugh it Off has used humor to comment on satirical responses to contemporary everyday South African life. The unique method used by the collective has predominantly featured satire through spoofing brand logos on T-shirts. In fact, in 2005 Laugh it Off won a court case to protect the right to freedom of expression on one of their T-shirts, when challenged by South African Breweries to remove a Carling Black Label satirical T-shirt from circulation. The Laugh it Off Retrospective will feature a montage of genres, including documentary, product photography, illustration and painting, which address a variety of social and political moments in South Africa.
The featured artists include Andrina Stauffer, N.D Mazin, Bert Pauw, Dale Yudelman, Eduan Groenewald, Gerdus Bronn, Gerhardt Coetzee, Lauren Theunissen, Nathan Berther, Obie Oberholzer, Paris Brummer and Roberto Millan.
