DJ P.H. and Major League DJz will headline the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate Racing Festival after party at Kenilworth Racecourse on 5 January 2019. This L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate concludes what is the highlight of the Cape’s horse racing and summer social calendar.
With his commanding stage presence, DJ P.H. has garnered many fans for his spectacular live mash-ups. In addition, between his weekly Metro FM radio show, Cruise Control, and his hosting duties on SABC 1’S Live AMP, DJ P.H. has fast become one of South Africa’s most recognisable DJs.
No stranger to big stages, Afro-fusion hit makers, Major League DJz, will open the after party and set the night off to an electrifying start with a live performance which fuses DJ and percussion.
A world-class event, the two day LQP Racing Festival also includes summery jazz tones all day on Friday and Saturday, 4 and 5 January, while LQP will also pay homage to the city’s culture with a parade of the Cape Minstrels on Saturday afternoon, ahead of the day’s main event, the R1.5 million L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate.

The LQP Friday line-up commences at 12pm, with an exciting card of 8 races, including the prestigious Cartier Sceptre Stakes, the Western Cape’s premier sprint race for fillies. The afternoon garden party is complemented by bottomless bubbles and al fresco picnic treats. It is a fun, short format day and gates close at 5pm in order to prepare for Saturday’s event.
According to tradition, Saturday’s event will run from 11am – 11pm and consists of a 10-race card, with South Africa’s finest horses and jockeys competing for the coveted L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate and R1.5 million purse.
With an unparalleled 18-race card, wrapped in its trademark blue and white dress code and serving up the height of luxury and entertainment, the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate Racing Festival remains both a horseracing feast and the Cape summer season’s most anticipated social event.
