The streets of Mitchells Plain
Local hip hop graffiti art first emerged on the streets of Mitchells Plain during the mid 1980’s, and now it can be seen all over South Africa. The art form has been used in various forms, including political protest art and corporate commissions.
These days graffiti artists are often set to work on a range of works – small business shop fronts; ad agency use in TV ads; stage backdrops and building décor. Hence graffiti art culture has now become a sustainable career for many artists.
Graffiti artists painting live
Graffiti artist Prefix will exhibit his work at the aeroSOUL Expo and his paintings will be on sale. The creators who you can see painting live are Mak1, Care One Love, DFeat, Urban Khoi, SergeONE and Gogga.
The Devastator will also paint live on special boards specially installed for the event.
Vinyl Dee-Jayz on the bill include Triple Crown, C4, DForm and realROZZANO. There’ll also be a Lyriks for Cash Battle. Rappers will be pleased to know that there will be a Lyriks4CashBattle with a R500 cash prize.
