Marcel Oudejans founded The Cape Town Magic Club in 2016, and now hosts the longest-running magic show in South Africa. Monday Night Magic has already had three successful seasons, positioning it as a night of fun and entertainment which showcases a range of illusionists, mentalists, and magical sideshow acts, those with decades of experience, plus new kids on the block.

Mystifying misdirection
Some of the acts up this month include Alan Marriott, Jesse Brooks, Diva Disastar, Greg Gelb, Marcel Oudejans, Larry Soffer, Jamian Fortune and Stuart Lightbody. See

Magicians, with their mystifying misdirection and sleight of hand, have baffled audiences throughout the centuries – the first book containing explanations of magic tricks appeared way back in 1584. From country fairs to monumental TV spectaculars, from rabbits out of hats to close-up street magic, some of these artistes have left us gasping in amazement. While the illusions and showmanship have evolved, one thing remains: the wonder and joy of witnessing something utterly unbelievable.

Magical Season Four
The Cape Town Magic Club invites you to delve a little deeper into this mystical world at Monday Night Magic Season Four, which runs until 31 July, 2017 in its original home, The Cape Town Club in Queen Victoria Street. Two shows every Monday feature an eclectic, magical mix of performance artists entertaining audiences in an intimate 50-seater basement theatre accessed via a secret entrance, which adds to the aura of mystery. In keeping with the history of the magnificent building, guests are greeted by Black Orchid Burlesque flapper girls who lead you to the venue where you can order a drink and mingle with the magicians before and after the show, and have pics taken.

The community
Cape Town Magic Club supports the development of up and coming magicians by mentoring them and providing a platform to hone their skills in front of an audience. Its affiliation with similar “Monday Night Magic” endeavours in London and New York, opens up the stage to visiting international magicians, which also provides opportunities for South African magicians.
