MTV Base VJ Search countdown begins! After touring South Africa in search of the hottest new talent, the MTV Base VJ Search has ended a month long national quest. Now it’s time for viewers to see what went down at the auditions in a seven-part series that premieres on MTV Base (DStv channel 322) on Wednesday, 29 August 2018 at 9.30pm.

Hosted by 2017 MTV Base VJ Search winner Tshego Koke, the first four episodes will showcase the excitement, drama and comedy that unfolded at the auditions that kicked off in Durban, leading up to Cape Town and East London, before concluding in Johannesburg.
During the auditions, hopefuls faced a panel of expert judges Thomas Gumede, Kelly Khumalo, Tol A$$ and Boity Thulo – who after seeing hundreds of talented hopefuls, had the tough task of handpicking 25 of SA’s best and most vibrant talent. The top 25 will endure yet another trial as they attend the call-back round where the final two contestants will be selected to represent each city.
In episode one, on MTV Base, it’s Durban’s turn to showcase if it has the right talent, who stand to win prizes worth over half a million rand.
The prize includes a 12-month contract with MTV Base and the chance to host some of the coolest shows on the channel, an all-expenses paid trip to Thailand compliments of Breezer and a year’s supply of fruity Breezers, to keep life vibrant and colourful, as well as a brand new Fiat Tipo 1.6 hatchback.

In the city of Durban, hundreds of hopefuls tried to prove to the judges that they had what it takes to join alumnus Sizwe Dhlomo, Vanessa Mdee, Sandile Ntshingila, Ehizojie “Ehiz” Okoeguale, Nomuzi Mabena and Fikile “Fix” Moeti.
