Arno Carstens has unveiled music videos for his two new 2019 singles. “With these two songs, a fuller picture takes shape of what will be the scope and depth of a fractured album release that will evolve in parts, and complete once all of the pieces are compiled,” he says.
The South African singer-songwriter, is simultaneously releasing his third and fourth single releases for the year, titled Don’t Let it Be and Out of the Blue. They follow on from earlier releases, Lift my Spirit and Empire of the Night. These are two more pieces of the sonic puzzle that will ultimately form part of his 7th solo album. He designed the cover art.
In August 2019, Arno began work with Charlie Hamilton (Backstage Studios) and the fruits of their labour resulted in the emotive ballad Don’t Let it Be.According to Arno it’s “an honest reflection and yearning for a positive outcome against the harsh nature of reality”
Charlie has this to say about his time in the studio with Arno: “Working with Arno was a real privilege and a total blast. From being exposed to his thinking and inspiration to being allowed to help him craft one of his fine songs was a privilege I’ll never forget. He is truly one of this country’s top talents.”
He first teamed up with The Nothing Club (Out of the Blue), Fred den Hartog (Die Heuwels Fantasties) and Dane Taylor (Taylor Soundworks) in 2016 and they’ve maintained connectivity through their passion for music. Their relationship spans Arno’s English and Afrikaans releases. Dane won Best Engineer at the 2017 SAMA awards for his work on Arno’s debut Afrikaans album, Die Aandblom 13.
Music videos were directed by Lionel Smit.
