Ster-Kinekor Nouveau screens two exclusive new films – the tale of a legendary jazz musician and the other a teacher’s journey of discovery.

Things to Come is a French film (with English sub-titles), opening on 21 July, 2018. It’s a drama about Nathalie (Isabelle Huppert), a philosophy teacher whose life falls apart when she finds out that her husband of 25 years has been cheating on her and is leaving her. A strong woman, who has always been able to juggle the day-to-day demands of career and family, the devastation causes Nathalie’s life to crumble. Despite the tragedy, she finds a newfound sense of liberation. With nothing to hold her back, Nathalie sets out to define this new phase of her life and to rediscover herself.

Bluesy, one-of-a-kind Nina Simone

Following that on 28 July, 2018 is Nina, the story of one of the century’s most extraordinary talents – the 15-time Grammy nominee and Grammy Hall of Fame Recipient Nina Simone (Zoe Saldana). In this musical drama, Nina’s story unfolds, capturing her mesmerizing songs and passionate politics that brought her fame and fortune.

Sadly, her later years were riddled with depression, alcohol abuse and isolation. Clifton Henderson (David Oyelowo), her loyal manager encouraged her to begin a courageous journey back to her music, and, eventually, herself. Nina rediscovers the meaning of her life and work, with courage, strength and one true friend.
