Fine Music Radio listeners are enjoying the warm and impassioned voice of Ahmed Abdullah who celebrates his six month’s milestone on FMR. Ahmed’s successful audition realised his life-long dream to share his love of music with a wide audience. Born in Pakistan, Ahmed moved to the UK as a child. Living in Norwich, Norfolk he worked in the clothing and health industry. After visiting South Africa on frequent holidays he made it his permanent home five years ago. Yet wherever Ahmed lives it is his love of music that is the guiding light in his life.
His passion for music and desire to share it with others resulted in him starting an informal music society in Norwich, presenting music to friends and fellow music enthusiasts.
The Libretto of Life
When Ahmed speaks of music, it’s with a fervour and awe. He compares sharing music with sharing a great joy of life that flows through one’s very being. “For it is music that gives expression to the joy of living,” he enthuses, and its life force is one he embraces every day. Ahmed’s words are poetic and flow much like the music itself.
Listening to music requires a certain discipline. Through his pre-notes Ahmed endeavours to equip people with the tools to absorb music. He is mindful of his task which is to help people find the stillness within themselves in order to listen, “Ease people into the music and let the fragrance waft towards them”.
Ahmed On-Air
Ahmed is grateful that he has been eased into his role as a presenter on FMR. Under the guidance of Priscilla Laing he has been trained to do on-air, what he has been doing for years off-air, sharing his love of classical music. At the splendid age of fifty-four Ahmed Abdullah’s life-long wish has been fulfilled.
Station Manager Mark Jennings is confident that Ahmed is the right fit for the station: “We are delighted to have Ahmed in the FMR stable. We look forward to his long and happy career at FMR.”
