Phenomenal saxophonist Shannon Mowday presents LILA Direct from Norway on the Jazz at the Nassau bill. The gig happens on Sunday 29 September 2019 at 7.30pm at the Nassau Centre at Groote Schuur High School in Newlands, Cape Town.
LILA will feature Shannon Mowday on soprano, alto, baritone and bass saxes, bass and contra alto clarinet and composition, Helge Lien on piano, Johannes Eick on 6 string acoustic bass, Erik Nylander on drums and Asle Karstad sound design.
Mowday’s ‘LILA’ (divine play) is buoyed on by energy, rhythm, strong melodies, sensitivity and improvisation – all the elements at ‘play’ which unite the Norwegian-based musician with some of Scandinavia’s finest creative improvisational artists.
Supported by Norway Music, LILA had its debut performance on the Oslo Jazz Festival 2019, followed by performances in Norway and South Africa.
