Snakes in the City returns for Season 5 to Nat Geo Wild in October 2018. Snakes in the City is one of the most popular shows on the channel. Few people know that it is filmed in Durban.

Snakes in the City S5 highlight episodes:
Wednesdays at 6pm, from 17 October

Episode 1 – (17 October, 6pm) Hot and Bothered

A huge black mamba is trapped inside a dark, cramped roof and Simon has to poke his head into dark holes to find it – risking a bite to the head! Simon must also get over his fear of heights and catch a hot and bothered ‘boomslang’ in a tree.

Episode 2 (24 October, 6pm) – Storm of Snakes

Simon and Siouxsie brave a tropical storm to rescue a black mamba – one slip and they’re dead! A green mamba takes the whole crew to new heights, and Simon and Siouxsie play ‘pass the python’ in creepy crawly heaven.

Episode 3 – (31 October, 6pm) – Mamba Mama

A black mamba is trapped inside a couch in a tiny room with Simon and Siouxsie just inches away from being bitten at any time! Simon has his hands full when he realizes a green mamba he’s about to rescue is heavily pregnant.

Queen of Yala. 7 October, 6pm

The shadowy forests of Yala National Park are the perfect hideout for secretive leopards. One young female, Asha, has never before ventured beyond her mother’s territory – two square miles of lakeside hunting ground teeming with spotted deer and wild boar, a leopard’s ideal prey.

Loka the Baby Elephant. 14 October, 6pm

As baby elephant Loka navigates his way among the behemoths he must learn some crucial life lessons – suckling, swimming and getting a handle on his unwieldy trunk all under the watchful eye of his family.

Lake Hunters. 21 October, 6pm

In Sri Lanka’s parched lowlands, monkeys eat succulent water lilies at a lake in a forest clearing. Alongside them, deer and wild boar come to drink. It’s a peaceful scene – but it can’t last.

Web of Life. 28 October, 6pm

A huge manmade lake in Minneriya National Park supports the largest concentration of elephants in Asia. Families travel here, but for one young male this season marks a turning point.

Episode 2 – Giants of Taipei – 1 October, 6pm

Mike’s in Taiwan to search for three species of city dwelling fish that personify this fascinating island.

Episode 3 – Across the Pond – 8 October, 6pm

Mike travels to London, England in search of three of the great city’s most iconic fish species. One is a fearsome predator that will even devour birds, another is piscine royalty that is often known as “The Prince of the River” and one is a sentimental favourite that has recovered from a devastating disease outbreak.

Episode 4 – Fastest Fish in Miami – 15 October, 6pm

Miami is known as the Magic City, Florida is known as the fishing capital of the world, and Mike is known for loving a challenge.

Episode 4 – The Ragin’ Cajun – 22 October, 6pm

Mike travels to New Orleans, Louisiana in search of three of the city’s most iconic fish species, but it won’t be easy.

Episode 6 – Episode name TBC – 29 October, 6pm

Mike heads to New York City for the ultimate urban fishing experience. From Manhattan’s Central Park to Great White country on the tip of eastern Long Island, Mike tries his best to catch a bucket list of iconic New York fish.
