Tintswalo Safari Lodge, in the private Manyeleti Game Reserve, has launched a new spa for guests staying at the lodge.
Named Bush Willow Spa, after its namesake tree that grows in abundance in the reserve, the new wellness facility has been completely rebuilt and presents a haven for those in search of complete relaxation amidst the soothing sounds and invigorating scents of the African wilderness.
Bush Willow Spa is a luxurious bushveld retreat, with large windows and doorways opening onto a wooden deck, surrounded by nature only. The spa’s philosophy centers around the traditional healing power of trees – and with more than 336 species, including some Baobabs that are estimated to be over 4,000 years old, the Kruger region presents a veritable Garden of Eden. Many trees and shrubs have medicinal properties that have been used for hundreds of years by local communities – and are still being utilized by traditional healers today to treat a variety of disorders.

A Hydrotherapy Session
The spa comprises two single treatment rooms – separated by a sliding door, these can also be turned into a dual treatment room for couples. A Hydrobath, on a wooden deck out in the open bush, makes for a unique spa experience, allowing guests to become one with nature.
The two-seater bath offers a romantic treatment for couples and is best enjoyed as a signature ‘Hydrotherapy Session’ (R300 pp), or as an added extra for Honeymooners booked in for a spa lunch on the deck. The jet bath works on stimulating circulation and lymphatic flow, while also helping the body to detox. The 20-minute session is a great addition to any of the spa’s body treatments – especially used in conjunction with African bath salts and essential oils. After their bath, couples may relax on two loungers next to the tub while sipping chilled champagne and taking in the extraordinary scenery.
Eco-friendly products have been developed by Africology. The South African fair trade brand uses the healing essences of indigenous plants such as the Marula fruit, African Potato and Rooibos, all scented with the aromas of natural essential oils to calm the senses and offer a luxurious pampering experience. Bush Willow’s therapists are of Shangaan descent, and have been chosen for their expertise.
Signature treatments:

Rooibos & Lavender Clay Body Wrap (60min, R850)
The combination of essential oils will leave the skin feeling smooth and refined while stimulating blood and lymphatic flow. Great for skin conditions such as eczema, rashes, sunburn and swelling.
