Rustic Chakula is a new cooking show that celebrates the “modern-yuppie lifestyle”, says SABC3. It’s hosted by the charming chef Sizo Henna, who explores this contemporary lifestyle through prominent guests, art, music, destinations and cultures. His travel experiences allow him to create culinary creations that are rustic in taste and look. Sizo Henna has been called South Africa’s best-kept secret among the rich and famous in South Africa.
This young energetic professional chef who studied at London’s prestigious Walthamstow Forest College has a very simple business concept: “Do a stunning job every time”. This concept has evidently worked for him because he keeps on getting cooking requests. While travelling around the world, Sizo learnt about different cultures and cuisines, from Swiss cuisine in Geneva, to spicy hot Indian cuisine in Mumbai, chunky fish and chips and mushy peas in the streets of London, pan-fried foie-gras in France, and creamy mngqusho back home in Bisho. Sizo has had the privilege of working with different chefs from different backgrounds, including British, Spanish and Jamaican chefs.
Sizo Henna’s culinary creations have graced the dinner tables of local names such as Cyril Ramaphosa and Petros Madoda of the Reserve Bank of South Africa, the President Jacob Zuma, tycoon Tokyo Sexwale, Andile Mazwai and Lazarus Zim to mention but a few. Sme of his signature dishes include Rustic Sweet Pork Loin and Rustic Lamb Chops with Basil Pesto.
