Winter Edition of Quentin Tarantino Cult Classics

With an arty take on First Thursdays, the Winter Edition of Quentin Tarantino Cult Classics will premier on Thursday 6 June, 2019. Tarantino’s films are characterized by their satirical, non sequential story lines and references to pop culture. Quentin is the king of on-screen violence and elongated dialogues. One of his first award-winning films, Kill Bill Vol.1 kicks off the series.

Her a former assassin, The Bride (Uma Thurman), wakes up from a coma four years after her jealous ex-lover Bill (David Carradine) attempts to murder her on her wedding day. She is driven by an unquenchable need for revenge, she makes it her mission to get even with every person who contributed to the loss of her unborn child, her wedding party, and four years of her life. The Bride sets off on her pursuit of justice, enduring unthinkable injuries.

Tarantino’s second feature film is one of the best crime dramas ever with engaging characters and non‑stop action – so Pulp Fiction follows on 4 July, 2019. Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson) are hitmen with a fondness for philosophical discussions. In this ultra-hip crime movie, their storyline is interwoven with those of their boss, gangster Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames); actress wife, Mia (Uma Thurman); struggling boxer Butch Coolidge (Bruce Willis); master fixer Winston Wolfe (Harvey Keitel) and an anxious pair of robbers, “Pumpkin” (Tim Roth) and “Honey Bunny” (Amanda Plummer).

By now, you’d think that we’d be accustomed to Tarantino pulling the rug out from under our feet. Yet within the first five minutes of Inglorious Basterds, it’s clear that he’s done it again. It is the first year of Germany’s occupation of France. Allied officer Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) gathered a squad of Jewish soldiers to commit violent acts of retaliation against the Nazis. Pitt and his ensemble cast join forces with Bridget von Hammersmark, a German actress and undercover agent, to bring down the leaders of the Third Reich. Their fates intersect with theatre owner Shosanna Dreyfus, who pursues to take vengeance for the Nazis’ execution of her family. On 1 August the award-winning Inglorious Basterds will be screened.
