In fact, throughout the course of his 54-year career, Sipho has become a musical ambassador for South Africa.
Sipho late last year had a sold out show at the Baxter and is busier than ever. He remarked about De Waal Park: “I will be playing all the songs fans have come to associate with me like Jive Soweto, Shikisha and, of course, Burnout – and we’ll throw in some surprises as well.”
Celebrated African-ska band The Rudimentals is a socially diverse, fun-filled act that appeals to audiences of all ages and tastes. The multi-layered musical outfit is made up of highly accomplished, talented and entertaining musicians, representing a blend of youth and experience. The band has shared stages with some of South Africa’s top headliners, including Johnny Clegg, Lucky Dube, Hip Hop Pantsula, Freshlyground, and Fuzigish, and toured with the likes of The Wailers and the legendary UB40.
The headliners will be supported by the newly formed band Mmino, from Khayelitsha. The band was formed by Mohau Moahloli after playing for multiple bands around Cape Town. Mmino’s music is a fusion of African pop, Afro soul disco, mbaqanga jams and a twist of reggae. The music is inspired by their everyday experiences in the second largest township in South Africa.
