The National Antique Fair is the most talked about antiques, art and collectables fair in the country. The good news is that it’s coming to Cape Town at the Great Cellar, Alphen Estate in Constantia from 17 to 19 November. The Great Cellar at Alphen Estate is the home of Stephan Welz Auctioneers, who have partnered with the fair to hold daily valuations. Fine Music Radio will broadcast live from the fair for all three days.

Clyde Terry, antique dealer and organiser of antique fairs is excited about bringing the fair to the Cape. “We are thrilled to be launching the National Cape Antique Fair in Cape Town – the first of many! We have brought together the very best local and international antique dealers who will showcase the very best in antiques, art, collectables and decorative arts.”
The glittering opening night is on 16 November at 6:30pm at the Alphen Estate. Rub shoulders with the who’s who of the collecting world and be sure to snap up those rare investment pieces. Tickets for the opening night are just R100 a person with proceeds going to the South African Riding for the Disabled Association (SARDA).
SARDA provides therapeutic and recreational horse riding for disabled people which is both physically and emotionally beneficial. Both the door takings and valuations will be donated to this worthy cause.
The National Cape Antique Fair’s many treasures include:

- Silver and porcelain
- Vintage clothing and funky costume jewellery
- Art Deco pieces
- 20th Century furniture
- 70’s retro and 60’s advertising billboards
Art will be showcased as part of the exquisite decor settings. There are both contemporary and SA art masters for sale such as a rare Picasso drawing, a Maud Sumner oil, a Tinus de Jonge and a Gregoire Boonzaier painting.
Fine Music Radio’s Station Manager Mark Jennings said, “We are delighted to partner with The National Cape Antique Fair. Our listeners have a keen appreciation of the arts, a curiosity and delight for new experiences. We’re equally happy to support an event that makes a meaningful difference to the disabled community.”
