The Francophonie Food & Culture Festival returns to Cape Town on Saturday,14 March 2026, from 10:00 to 17:00 at the Belgian Residence, Newlands. Now in its fifth year, this free, family friendly event offers an engaging celebration of French language, culture, and creativity.

Belgian beers, wine tastings
Visitors can explore more than 60 stalls offering authentic food, artisanal products, and cultural displays from across the Francophone world.
The festival grounds will be alive with activity, featuring a vibrant beer garden serving world-renowned Belgian beers and refined wine tastings for guests to enjoy while immersed in the atmosphere of musique, culture et gourmandises.
A live raclette station run by the Swiss Consulate will allow visitors to watch this classic dish being prepared on site, adding to the culinary journey.
The stage will serve as the heart of the celebration, where audiences can enjoy the high-energy spectacle of Can-Can dancers and lively performances from Madagascar, among other international acts. Alongside live French music, these performances showcase the vibrant diversity and creativity of Francophone cultures.
Festival-goers will also have the opportunity to take part in a raffle with exciting prizes, while special appearances by French dog breeds are set to delight visitors of all ages.

Francophonie Month
The Francophonie Food & Culture Festival remains a key highlight of Francophonie Month, celebrating the diverse cultures connected through the French language, with over 120 million French speakers across 24 African countries.
Organized by the Consulates General of Belgium and France, with the support of the Consulates General of Switzerland, Greece and Romania, the Honorary Consulate of Mauritius, the Wallonia Export Investment Agency (AWEX), and the Belgian Chamber of Commerce in South Africa (BCCSA), the festival also features participation from Lebanon, Luxembourg, Greece, Madagascar, Vietnam, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and many other Francophone countries.
