The Two Oceans Aquarium veers off-course with a unique eco-theatrical performance titled From Home to Ocean. This theatrical experience takes place on 30 July, 2019 from 6.30pm for 7pm.
Written specially for the Cape Town Aquarium by multi-award winning South African playwright Clare Stopford, From Home to Ocean makes its debut in a one-time-only stage performance.
The production places the ocean to take centre stage and includes live music and unusual animals – together making a memorable family experience. So join the line-up of local talent who will be acting for action as they bring Plastic Free July 2019 to a close.
From Home to Ocean looks at how and why plastics enter the ocean, what makes it a huge problem, solutions that are already in circulation and most importantly, opening up the next level of problem-solving: What other ways are there of thinking about the problem?
What makes this type of theatre different
Other than the amazing venue, From Home to Ocean is a forum theatre experience. This means that once the actors have enacted a scene depicting an environmental concern, social problem or cultural struggle, YOU will be able to give comment and even join them on stage to re-enact the scene with an intervention that you think could solve the problem. What unfolds is an interactive, collective re-writing and re-enactment of the script. Truly acting for action!
And take note folks – this is theatre where you shape what happens on stage. If you’ve ever been curious about interactive theatre, this unique one of a kind experience could just be what you need to keep you entertained on a Tuesday evening.
