HH Drikung Rinpoche ice stupa
HH Drikung Rinpoch’s Go Green & Go Organic project will be extended across the world

Meet one of the great spiritual leaders of the Tibetan world – who is also an innovative thinker regarding climate change. HH Drikung Rinpoche, a High Tibetan Lama and Environmentalist will be at The Vineyard Hotel in Newlands on Tuesday, 30 May at 6.30pm.

His ‘ice stupa’ – or ice monument – project is helping the mountain kingdom of Ladakh in severe droughts. [An ice stupa is an artificial glacier used for water conservation, melting in spring time when fields need water most – www.icestupa.org].

United Nations Mountain Partnership Ambassador

For this green project Drikung Rinpoche was honoured in 2016 by being made a United Nations Mountain Partnership Ambassador. His Holiness works tirelessly to assist in the improvement of the quality of mountain people’s lives, and on the preservation of healthy environment in the world’s mountain regions.

He has founded the ‘Go Green & Go Organic’ project and now is working for preservation of environment throughout the Himalayan region. Later this green project will be extended over the world.

We breathe in, we breathe out.
We breathe in . . . but what do we breathe in?

His Holiness Drikung Rinpoche is the spiritual head of the Drikung Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. He was recognised as the 37th throne holder at 4 years old, and at age 11 gave his first public teaching. His Holiness holds initiations of all four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism and is considered to be an emanation of the Buddha of Compassion like His Holiness Dalai Lama and HH Karmapa.

It is rare to receive a Cape Town visit from such a highly realised spiritual master, and so anyone is encouraged to take this opportunity to receive the wisdom and blessing of this auspicious visit.

White kata (scarf)

There will be an opportunity for everyone, at the end of the teaching, to go up to the Lama and present the traditional white kata as a gesture of appreciation and respect and to receive a blessing. So bring your own, or white katas will be available for sale at the door.
