After playing to capacity houses with Amazing Grace at Theatre on the Bay, popular pianist Rocco de Villiers is back with a fun-filled, feel-good show packed with favourite Christmas melodies.
Rocco de Villers: Xmas Piano features music pieces taken from his gold status album Beautiful Beautiful Hymns and his latest release Beautiful Beautiful Hymns 2. The collection of carols and hymns include Silent Night, The First Noel, The Little Drummer Boy, Mary’s Boy Child, O Holy Night, Hark the Herald Angels Sing and Ave Maria, to name a few.
Rocco also includes a tribute to iconic Afrikaans songwriter Koos du Plessis and plays Somerkersfees, an Afrikaans Christmas carol, and Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You, since Rocco is a big fan of her voice!
The show is light and entertaining, with Rocco’s typical patter in between music about his life, Christmas, our country, end of the year eating, credit card debt and celebrations. It’s a show of hope and happiness, soul and spirit, and love and life.
