Barleycorn Music Club Festival background
The first Barleycorn festival was held in 1980 at the Maynardville Open Air Theatre. It was almost like a marathon with the music supplied by 20 acts that performed for about nine hours. The relatively unknown David Kramer captivated the audience with his songs like Red Veldskoen and Pork-pie Hat!
The festival went on to become an annual event and there is a long list of musicians who’ve performed on the stage like Freshly Ground, Steve Newman, Tony Cox, Edi Niederlander and more.
