The V&A Waterfront is calling all beer lovers to Makers Landing for a Dockside Beer Experience on Saturday, 4 June, 2022 from 12pm to 9pm. Participating local microbrewers span the Cape peninsula – from Woodstock, Salt River and Ndabeni, to Kenilworth and Kommetjie.

Breweries:

Woodstock Brewery

Located in the heart of Woodstock on Albert Road. Inspired by a fusion of art, science and business – this brewery produces and distributes 10 brews including seasonal and specialty brews.

Shackleton Beer Co

Owner, brewer: Steve Peel. Inspired by endurance, exploration, innovation and leadership; this vibrant brewery located in Salt River is blowing up the craft beer industry. Shackleton produces craft beer and vodka iced teas. They have a range of four craft beers and three vodka iced teas. Sporting a Taproom perfect for your study hour, catching a beer with the boys or even a dinner party for your mama.

Brewery Afro Caribbean 

Owner: Greg Casey. A local micro-brewery located in Kenilworth, above Banana Jam. Produces light, refreshing fruity flavourful beers/ales inspired by the Caribbean flavours. This brewery produces award winning beers such as “best beer in South Africa” for their Jungle Paradise IPA along with “best beer in Africa” for their DDH IPA Space Llama under their belt. Their beers are sold on tap and in cans at Banana Jam Cafe and available for delivery online.

HogHouse

The HogHouse brewery is located in Ndabeni. Inspired by the African Bushveld, focusing on the ritual of sharing beer between friends, the brewery takes an environmentally conscious approach to their production and brews. Collaboration is their secret to brewing their award-winning selection of beers. HogHouse Brewing Co won silver under the Spiced beer category for their Foraged Porter at this year’s African Beer Cup.

Ukhamba Beerworx

Ukhamba Beerworx celebrates African culture by capturing the taste of home in their craft beer. The brewery overlooks views from the Cruise terminal at the V&A Waterfront. Brews include African-inspired lagers, IPAs and Saisons along with seasonal experiments such as Tea&Cookies Beer and Buchu Cider. Sorghum, an African ingredient used in the saison, was inspired by owner and brewer Lethu Tshabangu wanting to honour his mother and heritage.

Lakeside Brewing Company

Established in 2013, the Lakeside Brewing company was born from the love of what they call a ‘good ol brewski” and a desire to make something that captures “gees”. The owners brewed their hobby into a unique, unfiltered and unpasteurised style of beer. They brew in small batches using only the freshest and finest ingredients. Winners of the “Best IPA” at the SA Beer Champs Their brewery in Kommetjie produces London Ale, IPA, American Pale Ale, Red Ochre Ale, Hefeweizen.
