This Valentine’s Day, Sun International’s The Table Bay gives couples the chance to “write” their own Valentine’s story – with a choice of chapters to determine how their story goes. In a gracious and sumptuous setting, and with Table Mountain providing the backdrop, the scene is set for romance.
The story could begin with oysters and bubby at the Union Bar or on the terrace overlooking the working harbour. A dozen, freshly shucked oysters with a glass of The Table Bay’s signature Brut MCC is an enticing preamble to the chapter (or chapters) to follow.

A Valentine’s inspired tasting plate
There is also the option of a Valentine’s inspired tasting plate comprising crispy duck, marinated beetroot, crisp wonton and pozu aioli, pomegranate preserve yoghurt, roasted chicken ballantine, potato discs and nasturtium salad. This is paired with a refreshing pomegranate martini.
The story could then take a decidedly more intimate turn. Tucked away in the cozy sanctuary of the hotel’s Camissa Brasserie, couples can indulge in slow roasted lamb saddle with wild herbs, confit pearl onions, galette potato, candy striped beetroot, heirloom carrots, and snow peas with a choice of either a glass of Table Bay’s craft beer, Legend Crystal Weiss, or Captains Table Red Blend. Skipping to dessert couples can conclude their Valentine’s story with a decadent treat of duo of dark and milk chocolate marquise, served with caramel foam and orange liqueur-macerated strawberries.

Valentine’s themed high tea
The Valentine’s themed high tea, served in the hotel’s lofty, high-trussed ceiling Lounge, is another chapter that could be “written” into the tale or be a story on its own. In addition to The Table Bay’s already extravagant high tea, there will be inspired treats such red velvet cake, strawberry short cake, a chocolate fountain, Turkish delights and rose macaroons among other decorated sweets. Couples could also “write” an epilogue to their Valentine’s story by staying the night in one of The Table Bay’s exquisite rooms facing the sea or overlooking Table Mountain, with breakfast in The Atlantic the following morning.
Table Bay’s PR Manager Sarah Prins adds: “At The Table Bay, we invite couples to write their own love story this Valentine’s day. Be romantic, be creative. Valentine’s 2018 is your tale to tell.”
