Catharina’s Restaurant at Steenberg Bask in the dappled shade of majestic oaks and soak up idyllic Cape Dutch surroundings over an easy, laid back lunch on the terrace of Catharina’s Restaurant at Steenberg. Keeping things light and uncomplicated, Executive Chef , has compiled a new one-course lunch menu with plenty of choice for a relaxed, no-fuss summer sojourn.

Options include pasta of the day, a variety of salads such as chicken Caesar and smoked salmon, panini and toasted sandwiches, and the ultimate gourmet burger and fish and chips. Battered kingklip with hand cut chips and a side salad at R145 is Chef Archie’s take on fish and chips. In addition to the usual trimmings, his beef Steenburger at R165 is stacked with gherkin, avocado, blue cheese and a fried egg. It comes with hand cut truffle parmesan chips and coleslaw.

Best with bubbly!

Of course, it’s all best enjoyed with a glass or two of fine Steenberg bubbly, Sauvignon Blanc or Rosé, for a relaxed summer al fresco lunch. One of the culinary jewels on the Constantia wine route, Catharina’s Restaurant is named after Steenberg’s intrepid 17th century founder, Catharina Ustings Ras.
